أَصبَحتُI have come to أَنشُرُunfold مِنfrom شِعريmy poetry بِكُلِّwith every يَدٍhand
أَصبَحتُ أَنشُرُ مِن شِعري بِكُلِّ يَدٍ
ماwhat كُنتُI used to أَطويهِfold it away مِنof ديباجَةِbrocade of الحُسنِbeauty
ما كُنتُ أَطويهِ مِن ديباجَةِ الحُسنِ
I now unfold, with every hand, from my poetry
I have begun to spread my poetry with every hand
What I used to fold away of beauty’s brocade.
That which I was folding of the brocade of beauty
فَرَطبُهُso its supple part لِلصَديقِfor the friend الرَطبِgentle يَلبِسُهُhe wears it
فَرَطبُهُ لِلصَديقِ الرَطبِ يَلبِسُهُ
وَماand what تَحَسَّنَbecame beautiful مِنهُof it كانَwas لِلحُسنِfor beauty
وَما تَحَسَّنَ مِنهُ كانَ لِلحُسنِ
So its supple fabric is for the gentle friend to wear,
Its freshness for the fresh friend to wear
And what grew beautiful in it was for beauty.
And whatever was beautified of it was for the beautiful
