يَقولونَ ما الدُنيا فَقُلتُ شَبيبَةٌ

يَقولونَ ما الدُنيا فَقُلتُ شَبيبَةٌ

وَأَمنٌ وَعِزٌّ دائِمٌ وَثَراءُ

وَأَمنٌ وَعِزٌّ دائِمٌ وَثَراءُ

They say, “What is this world?” I said, “Youth,

They ask what is life, and I replied:

and security, lasting honor, and wealth,

Youth, security, eternal honor and wealth,

وَعافِيَةٌ زَهراءُ هَبَّ نَسيمُها

وَعافِيَةٌ زَهراءُ هَبَّ نَسيمُها

وَعَيشٌ رَخِيٌّ نافِعٌ وَبَقاءُ

وَعَيشٌ رَخِيٌّ نافِعٌ وَبَقاءُ

and radiant health, whose breeze has blown,

Radiant health, with breezes that bring oblivion,

and a comfortable, beneficial life, and longevity.”

A life of ease, benefit and permanence.
