ظَلامِيَّةِ الأَصداغِ نورِيَّةِ الخَدِّ
And a woman with beguiling curves and a bewitching figure,
With the alluring charm of her slender waist,
Night-dark at the temples, radiant of cheek.
And the radiant glow of her dusky cheeks,

When my reproach runs wild, she humors it with assent;
When she chides me, her displeasure is soon appeased by acquiescence;
And if it is not satisfied, she appeases it with a promise.
Yet if that does not satisfy her, a promise wins her over.

And if my eye clamors against her with its tears,
And when my eyes rebel against her with their tears,
She chooses to answer its clamor by turning away.
They see their way in turning away from her, cheek to cheek.
