ليfor me صاحِبٌa friend حُرٌّnoble مِنَamong الأَصحابِcompanions
لي صاحِبٌ حُرٌّ مِنَ الأَصحابِ
جَذَعُa young colt التَواضُعِhumility قارِحُa full-grown steed الإِعجابِadmiration
جَذَعُ التَواضُعِ قارِحُ الإِعجابِ
I have a noble friend among my companions,
I have a friend, noble among companions,
A young colt of humility, a full-grown steed of admiration.
The embodiment of humility, dispelling vanity,
يَفتَنُّshows varied artistry فيin المَعروفِkindness مِنfrom مَعروفِهِhis bounty
يَفتَنُّ في المَعروفِ مِن مَعروفِهِ
مِثلَlike اِفتِنانِvaried artistry الغَيثِrain فيin التَسكابِpouring down
مِثلَ اِفتِنانِ الغَيثِ في التَسكابِ
He shows varied artistry in kindness from his bounty,
He is captivated by kindness through his kindness,
Like rain's varied artistry in pouring down.
Like the captivation of rain in pouring down,
فَليَبقَso may he remain ليfor me وَعَلَيَّand over me مِمَّنamong those who جاهُهُhis influence
فَليَبقَ لي وَعَلَيَّ مِمَّن جاهُهُ
مُذsince كانَit existed مُشتَمِلٌencompassing عَلىupon أَسبابيmy affairs
مُذ كانَ مُشتَمِلٌ عَلى أَسبابي
So may he remain for me and over me, one whose influence
So may he remain for me and upon me, he who came to me
Has encompassed my affairs ever since it came to be.
Since he took up my cause.
