رَأَيتَ لَهُ بِسوقِهِمُ نِفاقا
And young men—whenever praise goes unsold,
And youths, whenever Hamd praises them,
you see it sell briskly in their market.
You see for them in their marketplace sincerity.

إِذا ما اليَأسُ كانَ لَهُ مَحاقا
Their gifts bring the moon of hope to fullness,
Their gifts for the full moon of good opinion are complete,
whenever despair has darkened it.
Whenever despair for it is a refuge.

Whenever destitution drives my life mad,
Whenever annihilation maddens my livelihood
and their bounty casts a charm over it, it regains its senses.
And their bestowal protects it with horizons.
