أجَدتَ القولَ فينا يا بَشيرُ

أجَدتَ القولَ فينا يا بَشيرُ

وعمَّ الحاضرينَ لكَ السُّرورُ

وعمَّ الحاضرينَ لكَ السُّرورُ

You spoke eloquently of us, O Bashir,

You have expressed truthfully, O Bearer of Good News,

And, thanks to you, joy filled all those present.

And those present were filled with joy because of you.

وأعطيتَ العِبارةَ حُسنَ سَبكٍ

وأعطيتَ العِبارةَ حُسنَ سَبكٍ

بِعزمٍ ليسَ يَعروهُ فُتورُ

بِعزمٍ ليسَ يَعروهُ فُتورُ

And you gave the phrasing a beautiful form,

You have given eloquence a beautiful composition,

With resolve untouched by languor.

With determination that does not know weakness.

أتيتم بالسُّرورِ وليس بِدعاً

أتيتم بالسُّرورِ وليس بِدعاً

إذا ما بالسُّرورِ أتى البَشيرُ

إذا ما بالسُّرورِ أتى البَشيرُ

You came with joy, and it is no wonder

You have brought joy that is no novelty,

When the bearer of glad tidings comes with joy.

For joy comes wherever the bearer of good news appears.
