حَللتَ برَوضِهِمُ زهرَةً

حَللتَ برَوضِهِمُ زهرَةً

فخُلقُهُمُ روضُ زَهرٍ خَصِيب

فخُلقُهُمُ روضُ زَهرٍ خَصِيب

You settled in their garden as a flower.

You bloomed like a flower in their meadows,

For their character is a fertile garden of flowers.

Their nature is a lush, blossoming meadow,

وإنَّ الزُّهورنَ إذا جَاورَت

وإنَّ الزُّهورنَ إذا جَاورَت

زُهورا تزيدُ شذاً وتَطِيب

زُهورا تزيدُ شذاً وتَطِيب

And indeed, when flowers grow beside

Flowers, when next to other flowers,

flowers, their fragrance increases and they grow sweeter.

Increase in fragrance and grow more beautiful,

فسَوفَ تضراك بِهم دائما

فسَوفَ تضراك بِهم دائما

فمَا غِبتََ عنَّا إذا ما تغيب

فمَا غِبتََ عنَّا إذا ما تغيب

So we shall always see you in them [conjectural reading].

With them you will always thrive,

So you are not absent from us, even when you are away.

You were never far even when away,

سَقَيتَ بِخُلقٍ بدور جُهودٍ

سَقَيتَ بِخُلقٍ بدور جُهودٍ

فها قد جَنيتَ وِدادَ القُلُوب

فها قد جَنيتَ وِدادَ القُلُوب

With good character you watered the full moons of effort.

With virtuous efforts you nurtured,

So behold, you have reaped the affection of hearts.

And so won the hearts' affection,

فهُم سلَفٌ وهُمُ خَلَفٌ

فهُم سلَفٌ وهُمُ خَلَفٌ

وهُم للكئِيبِ عَزاءُ الكئِيب

وهُم للكئِيبِ عَزاءُ الكئِيب

For they are predecessors, and they are successors.

They are ancestors and they are descendants,

And for the sorrowful, they are the sorrowful one's solace.

They are solace for the grieving one in grief.
