لِلأرضِfor the earth شُهبٌmeteors كالسَّماlike the sky لاnot يَرتَجيhopes for
لِلأرضِ شُهبٌ كالسَّما لا يَرتَجي
إلاexcept الظَّلومُthe oppressor المُستبِدُّthe tyrant زَوالَهاtheir disappearance
إلا الظَّلومُ المُستبِدُّ زَوالَها
The earth has meteors like the sky; none hopes
The earth has shooting stars like the sky that do not expect
for their disappearance except the oppressive tyrant.
Except the tyrannical darkness its demise
وحقوقُهاand their rights مهضومةٌtrampled لكنَّهاbut they
وحقوقُها مهضومةٌ لكنَّها
فيin ذاthis السَماthe sky قدindeed زُلزِلَتwere shaken زِلزالَهاtheir upheaval
في ذا السَما قد زُلزِلَت زِلزالَها
Their rights are trampled, yet they
And its rights are infringed but in
have undergone their own upheaval in this sky.
This sky its foundations were shaken
فتظاهرتthen rallied together شُهبُmeteors السماof the sky لَمَّاwhen رَأتthey saw
فتظاهرت شُهبُ السما لَمَّا رَأت
شُهبَmeteors البَسيطةِof the earth نالَهاbefell them مانالَهاwhat befell them
شُهبَ البَسيطةِ نالَها مانالَها
Then the sky's meteors rallied together when they saw
So the shooting stars of the sky protested when they saw
the earth's meteors suffer what had befallen them.
The shooting stars of the earth afflicted with what afflicted them
هذاthis جزاءُthe reward of شَبيبةٍa young generation فَعَّالَةactive
هذا جزاءُ شَبيبةٍ فَعَّالَة
كانتused to تَرَىdeem أقوالَهاits words أقوىstronger لَهاfor it
كانت تَرَى أقوالَها أقوى لَها
This is the reward of an active young generation
This is the reward of an active youth
that deemed its words more powerful for itself.
Who thought its words were stronger for it
ولِرَحمةand for the compassion of الآباءِthe fathers حينwhen تَأَخَّرَتwas delayed
ولِرَحمة الآباءِ حين تَأَخَّرَت
فرأتso it saw لهاfor it أنجالَهاits sons أنجىmore able to save لَهَاfor it
فرأت لها أنجالَها أنجى لَهَا
And when the fathers' compassion was slow in coming,
And for the mercy of the fathers when it was late
it saw its sons as better able to save it.
It saw for it its children a safer refuge
دعleave aside عَنكaway from you دَمعيmy tears فوقَupon صدريmy breast إنَّهindeed they
دع عَنك دَمعي فوقَ صدري إنَّه
لِقُلوبِنَاfor our hearts فيin سَكبِهshedding them أشفَىmore healing لَهاfor them
لِقُلوبِنَا في سَكبِه أشفَى لَها
Do not mind my tears upon my breast; indeed,
Leave my tears above my chest indeed
their shedding brings our hearts greater healing.
For our hearts in its pouring most healing
