She looked with a glance that toyed with hearts,

and swayed proudly, with the figure of a slender bough.

She smiled gently, and her mouth shone,

and dispelled the dark depths of her trailing tresses.

so she threatened them with a blaze from her cheek.

And she revealed to us golden wine in the cup, from

a hand dyed the color of its vessel.

And with her there befell us a tale such as

    Abd al-Malik ibn Qarib recounts.

her cheek against it, and bent close with a watchful ear.

while the ear was between belief and disbelief.

yet we see it cry out like one being beaten.

She blended her voice with its voice, and the two mingled,

and sang a melody poured into the breast:

Love and devotion fill our heart

for our prince and our beloved king.

    هذا قضَاء الوَاجِب المطلُوب

    Our devotion to the throne is a duty;

this is the fulfillment of the duty required.

Glory to Him who placed the land in his hand

and surrounded him with the hearts of its people,

thus turning his body into a beating heart,

while our hearts are like the body that shelters it.

So beat, as is your right, a yearly beat

for the life of an age of knowledge and refinement—

an age in which we sipped from the lips of hope,

and the night of ignorance and calamities lifted.

A king who took his seat upon the throne of our hearts

before ascending his throne, set in place.

The people recalled his ancestry and his virtues,

thus adding inherited merit to merit earned.

If our hearts have pledged him fidelity,

a free man's promise is never false.

Beat for the throne's festival, a throne of joy

for the people, young men and gray-haired elders alike.

humankind's shade and its cherished wish.

How noble a festival, revealing its face

to meet you with welcome and greeting!

And rejoice in a full moon shining from the brow

of your heir apparent, the best of all noble scions.

God, what a radiant future is his,

written in light upon his brow!

and sway like a bending bough in victory's garden.

of the throne, and it is her dearest beloved.

    لله ما أحلى التحادَ شُعُوب

    She has shared with us the joy of its festival;

God, how sweet is the union of peoples!

And let al-Hamra boast, and let her people boast,

every one of them, far and near,

of the distinction of precedence she gained through him

on this day, the day associated with her glory.
