مِنfrom مُحِبٍّan admirer وماand no مُحِبٍّadmirer سِوائيother than me
مِن مُحِبٍّ وما مُحِبٍّ سِوائي
Pure greetings, O poet of al-Zahra,
The purities - poet of the radiant one
From an admirer—and there is no admirer but me.
From a lover, and no lover but me
وَمنارةُand the minaret of الكتبيِّal-Kutubi أعظمُthe greatest شاهدٍwitness
وَمنارةُ الكتبيِّ أعظمُ شاهدٍ
إنif قيلَit is said أينwhere مفاخرُthe glories of الحمراءal-Hamra
إن قيلَ أين مفاخرُ الحمراء
And al-Kutubi’s minaret is the greatest witness,
And the lighthouse of al-Katib is the greatest witness
If it is asked, “Where are the glories of al-Hamra?”
If it is said: where are the glories of the Red City
