بدَلاَ عنِّى إلى يَومِ التَّلاق
O my dear friends, here is my portrait for you,
O my beloved ones, to you my image
In my stead until the day we meet.
In my stead, until the day we reunite
هذهthis الدنياthe world وهذهِand this حَالُهاits condition
هذه الدنيا وهذهِ حَالُها
إنمّاnothing but الدنياthe world اجتماعٌmeeting وافترَاقand parting
إنمّا الدنيا اجتماعٌ وافترَاق
This is the world, and this is its condition:
This is the life and such is its state
The world is nothing but meeting and parting.
The life is but a gathering and parting
