ياO سَيِّداa master فيin مَغرِبٍthe West
يا سَيِّدا في مَغرِبٍ
وسيِّداًand a master فيin مشرِقِthe East
وسيِّداً في مشرِقِ
O master in the West,
O master in the west
And master in the East,
And master in the east
ومَفرِقَand the crown of the head العَليَاءglory بلnay
ومَفرِقَ العَليَاء بل
تاجاًa diadem لِذاكَfor that المَفرِقِcrown of the head
تاجاً لِذاكَ المَفرِقِ
And the crown of glory’s head—nay,
Who parts the noble
A diadem for that crown:
Crowning that parting
ذووholders of دُيونٍdebts لمnot تزَلcease
ذوو دُيونٍ لم تزَل
بابَthe door of محلِّىmy dwelling تَطرُقِknock
بابَ محلِّى تَطرُقِ
Creditors have not ceased
With debts that never ceased
Knocking at the door of my dwelling.
