ياO أميرَCommander of المُؤمنينَthe Faithful المُرتَضَىthe chosen one
يا أميرَ المُؤمنينَ المُرتَضَى
مَنwho لِدينِfor the faith of اللهGod سيفٌa sword مُنتَضَىdrawn
مَن لِدينِ الله سيفٌ مُنتَضَى
O chosen Commander of the Faithful,
O Prince of the Believers, O Most Pleasing One
You who are a drawn sword for God's faith.
Who wields the sword of Allah's religion
هذِهthis الأمةُnation تَسعَىhastens نَحوَكُمtoward you
هذِه الأمةُ تَسعَى نَحوَكُم
بِقلُوبٍwith hearts ملأتhave filled رَحبَthe vastness of الفَضاspace
بِقلُوبٍ ملأت رَحبَ الفَضا
This nation hastens toward you,
This nation strives towards you
With hearts that have filled the vastness of space,
With hearts that have filled the vastness of space
أفعمتwere filled to the brim حُباwith love وإخلاصاand devotion لكمto you
أفعمت حُبا وإخلاصا لكم
فَرضُa duty عينٍon each individual ولهand for it الكلُّeveryone قضىhas fulfilled
فَرضُ عينٍ وله الكلُّ قضى
Brimming with love and devotion to you:
They have done you sincere love and loyalty
An individual duty, and all have fulfilled it.
An obligation of the eye, and to it let all yield and submit
زَمنُthe time of الأفراحِjoys والبُشرَىand glad tidings أتَىhas come
زَمنُ الأفراحِ والبُشرَى أتَى
وتولَّىand departed اليأسُdespair عنَّاfrom us وانقَضَىand ended
وتولَّى اليأسُ عنَّا وانقَضَى
The time of joys and glad tidings has come,
The time of joy and good news has come
And despair has left us and come to an end.
And despair has turned away from us and vanished
يومُthe day of عيدِthe festival of العرشِthe throne يومٌa day مُشرِقٌradiant
يومُ عيدِ العرشِ يومٌ مُشرِقٌ
نورُهits light شَرقاeastward وغَرباand westward قدhas أضَاshone
نورُه شَرقا وغَربا قد أضَا
The day of the Throne Festival is a radiant day;
The day of the Festival of the Throne is a radiant day
Its light has shone east and west.
Its light has shone in the east and the west
هوَit يومٌa day خَصَّهset it apart اللهُGod بكُمfor you
هوَ يومٌ خَصَّه اللهُ بكُم
لمdid not ينَلهattain it غيرُكمanyone other than you مِمَّنamong those who مَضَىcame before
لم ينَله غيرُكم مِمَّن مَضَى
It is a day God has set apart for you,
It is a day that Allah has specially blessed through you
Which no one before you has attained.
None before you has attained it from those gone by
ولهand it has سِرٌّa secret إذاif استَجلَيتَهُyou bring it to light
وله سِرٌّ إذا استَجلَيتَهُ
لكَto you يبدُوappears مثلُlike بَba (incomplete fragment)
لكَ يبدُو مثلُ بَ
And it holds a secret: if you bring it to light,
It has a mystery which if you ponder
It appears to you like 'ba...' [incomplete text].
Will become as clear to you as the mid-morning sun
قدhas شفَىhealed قلبَthe heart of صَديقٍa friend صَادِقٍsincere
قد شفَى قلبَ صَديقٍ صَادِقٍ
والعِدَاand the enemies قلبَهُمُtheir heart قدhas أَمرَضاmade sick
والعِدَا قلبَهُمُ قد أَمرَضا
It has healed the heart of a sincere friend,
It has healed the heart of a sincere, loyal friend
And has made the enemies' heart sick.
While the hearts of enemies it has made sick
ولقدand indeed جِئتُكُمُI have come to you مُرتجياًhoping
ولقد جِئتُكُمُ مُرتجياً
مِنكمُfrom you أنthat تَقبلُونيyou accept me بالرِّضَىwith favor
مِنكمُ أن تَقبلُوني بالرِّضَى
And indeed I have come to you, hoping
And so I come to you hopeful
That you will receive me with favor.
That you accept me with pleasure
دُمتَmay you remain فيin العلياءِthe heights بدراa full moon كامِلاperfect
دُمتَ في العلياءِ بدرا كامِلا
ياO أميرَCommander of المُؤمِنينthe Faithful المُرتَضَىthe chosen one
يا أميرَ المُؤمِنين المُرتَضَى
May you remain a perfect full moon in the heights,
May you remain perfectly full, like the full moon
O chosen Commander of the Faithful.
O Prince of the Believers, O Most Pleasing One
