صلَّّىblessed علَىupon محمَّدMuhammad ربُّهhis Lord
صلَّّى علَى محمَّد ربُّه
وهلَّand poured down منfrom تَسلِيمهHis greeting of peace صَوبُهits downpour
وهلَّ من تَسلِيمه صَوبُه
May his Lord bless Muhammad,
His Lord prayed upon Muhammad
And may the showers of His greetings of peace pour down.
And turned from his greetings his direction
صَفِيُّهُHis chosen one خيرُthe best رسولٍmessenger لَهfor Him
صَفِيُّهُ خيرُ رسولٍ لَه
حبِيبهHis beloved منpart of حُبِّهlove for Him حُبُّهُlove for him
حبِيبه من حُبِّه حُبُّهُ
His chosen one, His finest messenger,
His chosen one, the best messenger for Him
His beloved—love for him is part of love for Him.
His beloved, from His love is his love
إنif ذلَّwas humbled حِزبٌa party مِنbecause of عدُولِهhis turning away
إن ذلَّ حِزبٌ مِن عدُولِه
محمَّدٌMuhammad عَزَّbecame mighty بهthrough him حِزبُهhis party
محمَّدٌ عَزَّ به حِزبُه
If a party is humbled by his turning away,
If a party opposed His party
Muhammad—his party is exalted through him.
Muhammad prevailed with his party
صَلَّىblessed علىupon محمَّدٍMuhammad ربُّهhis Lord
صَلَّى على محمَّدٍ ربُّه
مَنthe one whose بِمدِيحهِwith his praise مشَىtraveled رَكبُهhis caravan
مَن بِمدِيحهِ مشَى رَكبُه
May his Lord bless Muhammad,
His Lord prayed upon Muhammad
Whose caravan traveled with his praise.
Whoever praises him, his riding animal walked
فخَيرُfor the best مَنone whom يَهدىHe guides بهthrough him خَلقَهُHis creation
فخَيرُ مَن يَهدى به خَلقَهُ
مَنthe one who هُوhe بينَamong خلقِهHis creation لُبُّهُits essence
مَن هُو بينَ خلقِه لُبُّهُ
For the best through whom He guides His creation
So the best one to guide His creation through him
Is he who, among His creation, is its very essence.
Is the one who is the core of His creation
صلَّىblessed علَيهupon him مِنas a رَسُولٍmessenger بهthrough him
صلَّى علَيه مِن رَسُولٍ به
رَوضُthe meadow الهُدَىof guidance مُخضرَّةٌgreen عُشبُهits grass
رَوضُ الهُدَى مُخضرَّةٌ عُشبُه
May He bless him—a messenger through whom
Prayed upon him every messenger of His
The grass of the meadow of guidance is green.
The meadow of guidance flourished its plants
صلَّىblessed علَيهupon him مِنas a رَسُولٍmessenger بهthrough him
صلَّى علَيه مِن رَسُولٍ به
قرfound repose بشَّرَتهُمgave them glad tidings رُسلهُhis messengers كُتبُهhis books
قر بشَّرَتهُم رُسلهُ كُتبُه
May He bless him—a messenger through whom
Prayed upon him every messenger of His
He found repose; his messengers and his books brought them glad tidings [wording unclear].
His scriptures foretold the good news of him
صلَّىblessed علَيهupon him مِنas a رَسُولٍmessenger بهthrough him
صلَّى علَيه مِن رَسُولٍ به
يَلينُsoftens منof ذِيone possessing قَسوَةhardness of heart صُلبُهhis backbone
يَلينُ من ذِي قَسوَة صُلبُه
May He bless him—a messenger through whom
Prayed upon him every messenger of His
The hard-hearted man's backbone softens.
Who softened those of hardened hearts
لمdid not تَحتَجِبbecome veiled عنهُfrom him غُيوبٌunseen things فقَدfor indeed
لم تَحتَجِب عنهُ غُيوبٌ فقَد
تكشَّفَتwere lifted مِنfrom غَيبِهhis unseen realm حُجبُهits veils
تكشَّفَت مِن غَيبِه حُجبُه
No unseen things were veiled from him, for indeed
No mysteries were veiled from him, for indeed
The veils of his unseen realm were lifted.
Their veils were lifted from his mysteries
صلَّىblessed عَليهupon him مِنas a رسُولٍmessenger بهby him
صلَّى عَليه مِن رسُولٍ به
يَهيمis enraptured نجلthe son of سيفSayf دِينٍDin صَبُّهhis ardent lover
يَهيم نجل سيف دِينٍ صَبُّه
May He bless him—a messenger by whom
Prayed upon him every messenger of His
The son of Sayf Din, his ardent lover, is enraptured.
The youth of the religion's sword raged for him
