تَوسَّطَ بيننا زَهرا نَضِيرا
فبَينَand between الدَّوحتَينِthe two great trees شذاًa fragrance يضُوعwafts
فبَينَ الدَّوحتَينِ شذاً يضُوع
He took his place between us, a fresh blossom,
A flower bloomed between us, fresh and bright
And between the two great trees, a fragrance wafts.
Wafting fragrance between the branches, far and wide
حَنَوناwe bent tenderly مِنout of صَبَابتناour ardent love عليهِover him
حَنَونا مِن صَبَابتنا عليهِ
كماjust as تَحنُوbend tenderly علَىover القلبِthe heart الضُّلُوعthe ribs
كما تَحنُو علَى القلبِ الضُّلُوع
We bent tenderly over him out of our ardent love,
We bent towards it tenderly, in our youth
As the ribs curve around the heart.
As ribs curve around a heart, its love inside
