My heart has fallen for a handsome, well-built youth; if only I had
a fleeting moment of union with him—it would suffice me.

What recourse have I, when my heart cannot find
patience away from him, and passion scorches me?
ليستis not تَطيبُis sweet لِىَfor me الحياةُlife بِدونِهِwithout him
عَجَباًhow strange! تَطيبُis sweet لهfor him الحياةُlife بِدونيwithout me
Life has no sweetness for me without him.
How strange that life is sweet for him without me!

They said, 'He has captivated you with his beauty.' How strange of them!
And would beauty such as this not captivate me?
