رَبّLord قدindeed أعطَيتنَاهُYou gave him to us
رَبّ قد أعطَيتنَاهُ
وهوَand he منamong شرِّthe worst of عَطاءِgifts
وهوَ من شرِّ عَطاءِ
Lord, You have given him to us—
O Lord, You have given him to us
and he is among the worst of gifts—
Yet from the evil of Your gift he is bare
عَارِياnaked ياO ربِّLord خُذهُtake him
عَارِيا يا ربِّ خُذهُ
بقَميصٍwith a shirt ورِدَاءِand a cloak
بقَميصٍ ورِدَاءِ
naked. O Lord, take him
Naked, O Lord, take him back
with a shirt and a cloak.
