    Beauty rose from your brow as a sun.

    Its disk is the nūn, and the earth a cheek.

    For in its hue it is molten pure gold,

    like the light of its sun when it appeared.

    ما حَكى الغُصنُ في تَثنِّيه قَدَّا

    Her figure bewildered the lovers;

    no bough in its swaying matched her form.

    I am undone! Indeed, my heart, into the abyss of

    love, has fallen; so have mercy on the love-stricken slave.

    Al-Hasan the peerless did not suffice in intercession,

    nor Riḍwān of the eternal garden, to win affection.
