هو الطِّيِّبُ الأخلاقِ والإسمِ والذِّكرِ

هو الطِّيِّبُ الأخلاقِ والإسمِ والذِّكرِ

أزُفُّ له ذَوبَ العَواطفِ في الشِّعرِ

أزُفُّ له ذَوبَ العَواطفِ في الشِّعرِ

He is good in character, name, and repute.

He is of good character, name and mention

I offer him the molten essence of feeling in verse.

I profess to him the melting of emotions in poetry

وألتَمِسُ الأعذارَ منهُ إذا أنا

وألتَمِسُ الأعذارَ منهُ إذا أنا

تَغَيَّبتُ عنه والكَريمُ أخو عُذرِ

تَغَيَّبتُ عنه والكَريمُ أخو عُذرِ

And I seek his pardon if I

And I seek excuses from him if I

am absent from him; a noble man is forgiving.

Was absent from him, and the generous one is a brother of excuse
