سلاَمٌ على الأدبِ المُنتَقَى

سلاَمٌ على الأدبِ المُنتَقَى

سلاَمٌ على مَن سَما خُلُقا

سلاَمٌ على مَن سَما خُلُقا

Peace upon the choicest refinement.

Peace upon him who rose high in character.

على عُمدةِ المَلكِ مَن مُلكُنا

على عُمدةِ المَلكِ مَن مُلكُنا

به قد زَهَا وازدَهى وارتَقَى

به قد زَهَا وازدَهى وارتَقَى

Upon the king’s mainstay, through whom our realm

Has flourished, grown splendid, and risen high.

وفصلُ الرَّبيعِ علَى خلقِهِ

وفصلُ الرَّبيعِ علَى خلقِهِ

زُهُور الريَاضِ شذاً فَتَقَا

زُهُور الريَاضِ شذاً فَتَقَا

And springtime, upon his character,

Opened the gardens’ blossoms, releasing fragrance.

نزَاهتُه واستِقَامَتُه

نزَاهتُه واستِقَامَتُه

وهِمَّتُه الأصلُ ثم التُّقَى

وهِمَّتُه الأصلُ ثم التُّقَى

His integrity and his uprightness,

And his resolve, his lineage, then piety—

بتُربَة مَجدٍ نَما غُصنُه

بتُربَة مَجدٍ نَما غُصنُه

ومِن سَلبِيل العلُوم استقَى

ومِن سَلبِيل العلُوم استقَى

In the soil of glory his branch grew,

And from the Salsabil spring of learning he drew water—

جَعلنَ مُعَمَّرنا سيِّدا

جَعلنَ مُعَمَّرنا سيِّدا

وكُن لِرتبتِه مُرتَقَى

وكُن لِرتبتِه مُرتَقَى

Made our Muʿammar a leader,

And were a means of ascent to his rank.
