إذاif كانَis هذاthis كَذاso فَبِماthen with what
إذا كانَ هذا كَذا فَبِما
أُجِيبُI answer ففكرَىfor my mind قَدindeed حُيِّراhas been bewildered
أُجِيبُ ففكرَى قَد حُيِّرا
If this is so, with what
If this was thus, with what
shall I answer? For my mind has been bewildered.
Shall I respond? My thoughts perplexed
أَعيI am aware أنَّنيthat I لَستُI am not مُعتَرِفاًacknowledging
أَعي أنَّني لَستُ مُعتَرِفاً
لهto him بالذيconcerning what قالhe said حتَّىuntil أرَىI see
له بالذي قال حتَّى أرَى
I know that I do not acknowledge
I know I do not confess
his words as true until I see.
To what he said until I see
فكنso be لهfor him مُختَبِراًa tester ولتَكُنand be
فكن له مُختَبِراً ولتَكُن
كذَلكlikewise لِيfor me أناI myself مُختَبِراa tester
كذَلك لِي أنا مُختَبِرا
So put him to the test, and
So be to him a tester and be
likewise put me myself to the test.
Likewise to me a tester
وإلاand if not وأنتَwhile you are لناfor us حَكَمٌa judge
وإلا وأنتَ لنا حَكَمٌ
فماذاthen what سيَحسِمُwill settle هذاthis المِرَاthe dispute
فماذا سيَحسِمُ هذا المِرَا
Otherwise, with you as our judge,
Otherwise with you as judge
what, then, will settle this dispute?
