يَنشَرحُexpands الصَّدرُthe breast لِمَنfor whoever لاعَبَنيplayed with me
يَنشَرحُ الصَّدرُ لِمَن لاعَبَني
والأرضُand the earth بيaround me ضَيَّقةٌnarrow فُروجُهاits openings
والأرضُ بي ضَيَّقةٌ فُروجُها
The breast expands for whoever has played with me,
My heart opens for the one who played with me
And the earth’s open spaces are cramped around me.
And the earth to me, her expanses are narrow
كَمhow often شَوَّشَتconfused شيُوشهاher sixes (dice throws) عَقليmy mind وَكَمand how many
كَم شَوَّشَت شيُوشها عَقلي وَكَم
عَهداًa span of time سَقَتنيgave me drink عامِداًacting deliberately بنُوجُهاher fives (dice throws)
عَهداً سَقَتني عامِداً بنُوجُها
How often her sixes have confused my mind, and how many
How her allurements have distracted my mind
a time her fives have given me drink, by my own intent.
And for how long has she made me drink her cups intentionally
