خُذtake كأسَكَyour cup واحذرَand beware عَنهُaway from it أَنlest تَنخدِعاyou be deceived
خُذ كأسَكَ واحذرَ عَنهُ أَن تَنخدِعا
واترُكand leave دِمناًruined dwelling-sites بِأهلهاfor their inhabitants البينُparting دَعاsummoned
واترُك دِمناً بِأهلها البينُ دَعا
Take your cup, and beware lest you be beguiled away from it.
Take your cup and beware being deceived by it
And leave the ruins whose inhabitants parting has summoned away.
And leave the abode to its people, leave them be
فالحَزنُfor the rugged ground نَذيرُa harbinger of الحُزنِsorrow والخَيفُand the mountain foot معاas well
فالحَزنُ نَذيرُ الحُزنِ والخَيفُ معا
خوفٌfear لكَfor you والجِزعُand the valley bend تراهُyou see it جَزَعاanguish
خوفٌ لكَ والجِزعُ تراهُ جَزَعا
For rugged ground heralds sorrow, and the mountain foot, too,
For sorrow warns of more sorrow, and fear together
Is fear for you; you see the valley bend as anguish.
Is fear for you, and panic you see as panic
