ياO مَنyou who شُبِّهتhave been likened فيin حُسنِهاher beauty بالقَمَرِto the moon
يا مَن شُبِّهت في حُسنِها بالقَمَرِ
جُوديbe generous لِفَتيًto a youth باتَspent the night حليفَa companion of السَّهَرِsleeplessness
جُودي لِفَتيً باتَ حليفَ السَّهَرِ
O you who have been likened in beauty to the moon,
O you who in your beauty is compared to the moon
Be generous to a youth who spent the night a companion of sleeplessness.
My generosity towards a youth has made me friend of vigil
باللهِby God صِلِيgrant union فإِنَّنيfor indeed I فيin وَلَهٍlove’s anguish
باللهِ صِلِي فإِنَّني في وَلَهٍ
أَبكيI weep أَسَفاًin sorrow بأَمُعٍwith tears (apparent misspelling) كالَمطَرِlike rain
أَبكي أَسَفاً بأَمُعٍ كالَمطَرِ
By God, grant me union, for I am in love’s anguish,
For God's sake be kind, for I am in passion
I weep in sorrow, with tears like rain.
