behind those departing camel mounts.
Behind those independent litters

Is all in the guts of that eater

Whenever its love wearied me, I made its love
a religion and creed for myself alone among mankind.
A religion and creed, exclusively for me

All my time was lost in its love
in 'perhaps he will,' 'if only he would,' and 'maybe he will.'
In "perhaps", "if only" and "maybe"

Do not deepen my love for him, O my reproacher;
Do not increase me, O reproacher, in its love
leave counsel aside; I will not accept it.
Keep advice, I am not receptive to it
ففُؤاديfor my heart دامٍbleeding وَدَمعِيand my tears هامٍflowing
ففُؤادي دامٍ وَدَمعِي هامٍ

وَسَقامي نَام وقَلبي مُوَلَّه
For my heart is bleeding, and my tears are flowing,
For my heart is sick and my tears confused
and my sickness is growing, and my heart is distraught with love.
And my illness is dormant and my heart infatuated
