إنif جزتَyou pass بسلعٍby Salʿ سلask عنِabout الأحبابِthe beloved ones
إن جزتَ بسلعٍ سل عنِ الأحبابِ
فيin السِّرِّsecret ولاand do not تَدنُdraw near منَto الأَطنابِthe tent ropes
في السِّرِّ ولا تَدنُ منَ الأَطنابِ
If you pass by Salʿ, ask after the beloved ones
If you're rewarded with goods, keep it secret from friends
in secret, and do not draw near the tent ropes.
In private, and don't be verbose
واطلُبand seek لكَfor yourself منهمُfrom them أماناًsafe conduct فهُمُfor they
واطلُب لكَ منهمُ أماناً فهُمُ
باللَّحظِwith a glance يَصيدونَthey hunt أُسودَlions الغابِthe forest
باللَّحظِ يَصيدونَ أُسودَ الغابِ
And seek safe conduct from them for yourself, for they
And seek security from them for they
hunt the lions of the forest with a glance.
