حلفتُI swore بربِّby the Lord of مكّةَMecca والمصلَّىand the place of prayer
حلفتُ بربِّ مكّةَ والمصلَّى
يميناًan oath أنَّهمthat they قدindeed أَوحشونيleft me desolate
يميناً أنَّهم قد أَوحشوني
I swore by the Lord of Mecca and the place of prayer,
I swore by the Lord of Mecca and the place of prayer
an oath that they have left me desolate.
An oath that they have made me lonely
فديتُهمُI would ransom them بروحيwith my soul مِنof أُناسٍpeople
فديتُهمُ بروحي مِن أُناسٍ
حفِظتهُمُI cared for them ولكنand yet ضيَّعونيthey neglected me
حفِظتهُمُ ولكن ضيَّعوني
I would ransom them with my soul—those people;
I would ransom them with my soul from people
I cared for them, and yet they neglected me.
I protected them, but they lost me
