أُحبُّ الصَّالحينَ وَلَستُ مِنهمُ

أُحبُّ الصَّالحينَ وَلَستُ مِنهمُ

رَجاءً أَن أَنالَ بِهم شِفَاعَه

رَجاءً أَن أَنالَ بِهم شِفَاعَه

I love the righteous, though I am not among them,

I love the righteous, though I am not of them,

Hoping to gain intercession through them.

Hoping that through them I might gain intercession.

وَأُبغضُ مَن بِهِ أَثَرُ الَمعاصي

وَأُبغضُ مَن بِهِ أَثَرُ الَمعاصي

وإِن كُنَّا سَواءً في البِضاعَة

وإِن كُنَّا سَواءً في البِضاعَة

And I detest whoever bears the mark of sins,

And I hate those who bear the traces of disobedience,

Even if we are alike in our wares.

Even if we are equal in merchandise.
