I have not forgotten the night I visited her, unnoticed

By spiteful foe, watcher, or envier.

Then I embraced in her a slender bough of bān,

    Swaying from its shapely bān-tree.

And I kissed a mouth—oh, my modesty and shame,

If I should say it was like pearls strung together!

So I thanked the silence of anklets and bracelets,

And complained of the speech of chokers and necklaces.
