How many stings it inflicts—may I never lose it—
How often does the heart sting from the sting
on my heart in play, the scorpion of that temple!
Of that scorpion though it has no tail!

O oppressor, you have been unjust to the utmost, so fear
O oppressor! You have gone to the furthest extreme of tyranny, so beware
the consequences of oppression—how long will you go on oppressing?
Of the consequence of injustice - to what end do you seek to do wrong?
