From her sidelong glances she passed round cups,
She turned her cups from her cheeks,
and made us forget the choicest aged wine.
And made us forget the chiselled wine jugs,

And she revealed her crimson cheek, and we became
And revealed her rosy cheek, so we became
there, Magians worshipping the fire of her cheek.
There, fire worshippers for her cheek's flame.
فلمand did not نرَwe see قبلَهاbefore her خوداًa young maiden شَموعاًplayful
تُديرُshe passes round بطَرفِهاwith her gaze راحاًwine شَمُوساًunruly
For never before her had we seen a playful maiden
Never before had we seen candles,
who passes round unruly wine with her gaze.
That turn with their eyelids gentle winds.

Her two languid eyelids have arrows;
For her languid eyelids that unleashed arrows,
we bear wounds from them that go unhealed.
We have from them wounds that cannot be dressed.

In love she made fair game of our hearts,
She permitted in passion our hearts,
which wrestle with the first stirrings of love for her.
To be afflicted by her love constantly.

No, by God, she did not steal minds
No, by God, she did not take our minds,
from us—rather, she stole souls.
But she took our souls.

The bough thinks it has a figure
The branch thinks it has a lasting
supple of flank—until she sways.
Fragrance, until it withers.

It is as though one who beholds her brow
As if the one shining from it is a forehead,
had become a companion of the full moon.
For the full moon, it has become a companion.
