Journey with me—may good be yours—for the sake of a fair company;
Take me along—may good be yours—for the sake of a herd

Whose camp lies at the foot of a ravine.

Perhaps I may behold my gazelles
Perhaps I may see gazelles
appearing from Ḥājir, to take me captive.
That appear from Hajir and captivate.

Like boughs, there sway among them
Swaying like boughs are their
supple figures amid dune-heights.
Supple waists amid hills of sand.

There, among its wonders, it reveals to you faces
In their pride, they show you faces
whose beauty no veil has concealed.
Whose beauty they have not hidden beneath veils.

Pause by the bān trees at Zawd,
And stop at the ban tree of Zawd,

Do not forsake us so soon after closeness.

O neighbors, who through separation have wronged
a tormented lover, enamored of them—
A lover tormented by them:

You have tormented a sorrowful lover
with your distance; now graciously grant him nearness.
By your distance; so be generous with nearness.
