Who will win me justice from you, O cruel one?
Your ailing gaze has made me ill.

you know it and understand it well.
ياO بدرَfull moon تمٍّfullness لهُfor him الثُّريَّاthe Pleiades
ثَغرقmouth (probable reading) بهِin it تَكثرُabound النُّجومُthe stars
O full moon, for whom the Pleiades
are a mouth in which the stars abound.

أَقعَدنيhas laid me low عِطفُهُhis flank القَويمُupright
And O crescent moon upon a slender branch,
whose upright figure has laid me low.
أَمَاis there not? لهذاfor this الصُّدودturning away عَنِّيfrom me
حدٌّa limit أَمَاare ... not? أنتَyou ليto me رَحيمُmerciful

Has this turning away from me no
limit? Are you not merciful to me?
فَماfor ... not لَوَىheld back العهدُthe pledge دمعَtears عينيmy eye

For the pledge has not held back my eye's tears;
they pour forth, and my longing is unbroken.

Hell
You have settled in my heart, and this is strange:
How has Hell come to contain Paradise?
إِنif لَقِيَhas encountered الطَّرفُthe eye مِنكَfrom you بُؤساًmisery
فَالقَلبُthen the heart قَدindeed حَلَّهُhas settled in it النَّعيمُbliss
If the eye has met with misery from you,
then bliss has come to dwell within the heart.
