ودارَتand circulated عليَناamong us بِأدوارِهاin its rounds
Strong wine protected us with its radiance,
Our sheltering nurse has circled us
and circled among us in its rounds.
With her shining lights.
فَطافَتthen circled بُدورٌfull moons سُقاهُcupbearers (apparent spelling variant) كُؤوسٍcups
عليناamong us بِشَمسِwith the sun دُجَىdarkness نارِهاof its fire
Then full moons—cupbearers bearing cups—circled
Her seasons turned above us,
among us with its fire, a sun in the darkness.
Cups passed round by dawns lit up
وأَطلَعand dawned أُفقُthe horizon سِماءِof the sky العُقارِof wine
بِأَرياحِهاwith its winds وبأَمطارِهاand with its rains
And the horizon of wine's sky dawned
By the sun of her glowing fires.
with its winds and its showers.
The horizon of the rainy sky shone out

And upon the tips of the branches sang
With its winds and rains.
its wordless birds, with their melodies.
The branches' gentle boughs sang
فَرقَّصَthen made dance إِطرابُthe rapture of ذاكَthat الغِناءِsong

Then the rapture of that song made dance
In the tongues of their twittering birds.
the slender forms of its tree-brides.
The disturbed rapture of that song
فَقُمso rise نَجتلِlet us behold الرَّاحthe wine فيin رَوضَةٍa garden

So rise; let us behold the wine in a garden
Set dancing the slender bridal trees.
that delights with its smiling flowers,
So rise, and walk the garden's peace,
مُفوَّقَةٍnocked like arrows نَفحاتُbreaths of النَّسيمِthe breeze

whose breaths of breeze, nocked like arrows,
Where smiles break out on opening flowers,
waft the fragrance of its hidden secrets.
And scented winds spill out their secret clears.

It surpasses, through its wanderer across the plains,
Her open plains outsoar all others,
all the stored treasures of its desires.
Pasture to the tribes from everywhere.
وللهِand to God belong أَيَّامُthe days of فَضلِthe bounty of الرَّبيعِspring

And God's are the days of spring's bounty,
God's spring days have special grace
with their afternoons and their dawns!
In their carpets and their trees.

You see the soul within us, whenever he recounts
When the self here is watered, it tells tales
the traditions of the transmitter of its history,
That link back to the ancients.

It brings you texts inscribed at birth,
and the age of its new wine goes back to Adam.
Traced through Adam and beyond.
