وطرفيand my gaze ودمعيand my tears شاهدهٌits witness وشَهيدُand a witness
My passion for you can grow no greater.
My passion for you has no limit
And my gaze and my tears both bear witness to it.
My eyes and tears bear witness
أَحنُّI yearn إليكُمfor you والمهامهُwhile the vast deserts بينَنَاbetween us
فَودِّيso my love قَريبٌnear والَمزارُand the place of meeting بَعيدُfar
I yearn for you, though vast deserts lie between us.
I yearn for you though we are far apart
So my love is near, though the place of meeting is far.
My love is near, but visiting is difficult

May the sweetness of joyful days return to me.
May the good days of joy return to me

ألاah فانعِمواthen bestow ليon me بالسَّلامِgreetings مَعَwith الصبَّاthe east wind
فَإِنَّfor indeed فُؤاديmy heart مُدنَفٌlovesick وَعَميدُand sorely stricken
Ah, bestow on me greetings with the east wind,
Please send me greetings of peace with the morning breeze
For my heart is lovesick and sorely stricken.
For my heart is sick and weary
نَعَمyes وَسَلواand ask بانَthe bān tree of الحِمَىthe sanctuary هَلwhether أمَالَهُmade it bend
غَراميmy passion وَدَمعيand my tears للِمطيِّfor the mounts ورُودُa watering place
Yes, ask the bān tree of the sanctuary whether it was bent
Yes, and ask the protector of the tribe if my passion
By my passion, and whether my tears are a watering place for the mounts.
And tears for the rider and visitor will return
تُرىI wonder هَلwhether تَعودُreturn الدَّارُthe dwelling تَجمَعُbrings together بَينناbetween us
وَتَرجِعُand come back أَيَّامُthe days of الحِمَىthe sanctuary وَتَعودُand return
I wonder, will the dwelling again bring us together?
Will the house bring us back together again
And will the days of the sanctuary return once more?
And will the days of passion return
لَئنِif indeed رَجَعَتreturned تِلكَthose اللَّياليnights الِّتيthat مَضَتpassed
وعايَنتكُمand I beheld you إِنِّيindeed I إِذاًthen لَسَعيدُsurely happy
If those nights that have passed should return,
If those nights that passed return
And I behold you, then I shall surely be happy.
And I see you again, then I will be happy
