Generosity has a hand, whose favor is thanked
The vine has a hand whose kindness is gratefully acknowledged,
by me forever, and whose deed is renowned.
By me always, and its bounty is renowned.
لَوif جُزتُI passed عَليهِby it صاحِياًsober لانحَرفَتwould surely turn aside
لَو جُزتُ عَليهِ صاحِياً لانحَرفَت

بي عَنهُ رِكابي وَأَنا مَخمُورُ
Had I passed by it sober, surely they would have veered—
If I passed by it sober, my mounts would turn
my mounts, bearing me away from it while I was drunk.
Away from it with me, while I was drunk.
