If the ambergris of his mole guides me by night
In the night his cheek's radiance guides me,
to his mouth, I cannot turn aside from its limpid water.
Its charm I cannot evade.

Or if the lightning of his front teeth shows me a gleam,
Or lightning from the clouds makes me see
I watch it through streaming tears.
His eyes with pouring tears inundated.

A full moon: even if the moon wanes, no
Though the full moon may decrease, its essence
part of his beauty and perfection diminishes.
Stays perfect, nothing subtracted.

His posture sways not except to humble
putting the bough to shame with his coquettish swaying.
The bending boughs with grace saturated.

His mole suffused him with beauty, yet singled out
His cheek took all the beauty, and my heart
my heart for his abandonment and weariness.
He overwhelmed with his disdain belated.

Would that when to my heart his aloofness dealt
he would one day grant it the sweetness of union with him.
He had also given union elated!

So, because of his estrangement, I deem sleep a duty,
For his estrangement I make sleep a duty,
for perhaps I may be blessed with his image in a dream.
Hoping to be blessed with his specter created.
