ياO دارُdwelling بِحَقِّby the sanctity of فُرقَةِthe parting of الإِلفَينِthe two lovers
يا دارُ بِحَقِّ فُرقَةِ الإِلفَينِ
العُذرُthe apology إِليكِto you مِنfor جُمودِthe dryness of العَينِthe eye
العُذرُ إِليكِ مِن جُمودِ العَينِ
O dwelling, by the sanctity of the two lovers' parting,
Oh home, for the sake of our separation
I offer you my apology for the dryness of my eye.
I apologize for my unfeeling eyes
ماnot أَملِكُI possess عَبرَةًa tear فَأبكيكِso I may weep for you بهاwith it
ما أَملِكُ عَبرَةً فَأبكيكِ بها
أفنيتُI exhausted جميعَall الدَّمعِthe tears يَومَon the day of البَينِparting
أفنيتُ جميعَ الدَّمعِ يَومَ البَينِ
I have no tear with which to weep for you;
I have no tears left with which to cry for you
I exhausted all my tears on the day of parting.
I spent them all the day we said goodbye
