رَأى صاحِبي هذا الوَزير فَقالَ لي

رَأى صاحِبي هذا الوَزير فَقالَ لي

تَأَمّل مَزاياهُ وَصف لي أَحوالُه

تَأَمّل مَزاياهُ وَصف لي أَحوالُه

My companion saw this minister and said to me:

My friend saw this minister and said to me

“Consider his merits and describe his circumstances to me.”

Look at his qualities and describe to me his state

فَقُلتُ وَزير ثُم صَرَّخت بِاِسمِه

فَقُلتُ وَزير ثُم صَرَّخت بِاِسمِه

وَأَرَّختُه يَحيا وَيَبلُغ آمالُه

وَأَرَّختُه يَحيا وَيَبلُغ آمالُه

So I said, “A minister,” then shouted his name,

So I said "Minister" then I shouted his name

And gave his chronogram: “May he live and attain his hopes.”

And wished for him to live and attain his hopes
