يَدُلُّguides عَلَيناto us الجارَthe neighbor آخَرُanother قَبلَهُbefore him
وَأَحلامُناand our good sense مَعروفَةٌwell known وَسَدادُهاand its soundness
A neighbor is guided to us by another who came before him,
and our good sense is known, as is its soundness.
وَجاراتُناand our women neighbors مادُمنَas long as they remain فيناamong us بِعِزَّةِin honor and security

And our women neighbors, as long as they remain among us, live in honor,
like the ibex of Thabir, which may not lawfully be hunted.

بِمَكَّةَin Mecca بَينَbetween الأَخشَبَينِthe two Akhshab mountains مَرادُهاtheir grazing ground
You see the stranger-neighbor’s camels as though
their pasture lay in Mecca, between the two Akhshab mountains.
يَكونُfalls عَلَيناupon us نَقصُهاtheir loss وَضَمانُهاand liability for them
وَلِلجارِand to the neighbor إِنif كانَتِthey are نُريدُwe desire اِزدِيادُهاtheir increase
We bear any loss of them and stand surety for them,
and if they belong to the neighbor, we wish for their increase.
