كَما يُغادَرُ ثورُ الطارِدِ الفَئِدُ

Time has snatched away my brothers and left me behind,

Time has carried off my brothers and left me behind,

as a hunter leaves the heart-struck bull behind.

As the hunter's terror-stricken bull is left behind.

إِنّي لَباقٍ قَليلاً ثُمَّ تابِعُهُم

إِنّي لَباقٍ قَليلاً ثُمَّ تابِعُهُم

وَوارِدِ مَنهَلَ القَومِ الَّذي وَرَدوا

وَوارِدِ مَنهَلَ القَومِ الَّذي وَرَدوا

I shall remain but a little while, then follow them,

Surely I shall remain but a little while, then follow them,

and reach the people’s watering place—the one they reached.
