مُجَالَسَةُkeeping company with السفِيهِthe fool سَفَاهُfolly رَأىٍjudgment
مُجَالَسَةُ السفِيهِ سَفَاهُ رَأىٍ
وَمِنand part of حِلمٍforbearance مُجَالَسَةُkeeping company with الحَليمِthe forbearing person
وَمِن حِلمٍ مُجَالَسَةُ الحَليمِ
Keeping company with a fool is folly of judgment,
Keeping company with a fool is folly in judgment;
and keeping company with the wise is an act of wisdom.
and keeping company with the forbearing is a mark of forbearance.
فَإنَّكَfor indeed you وَالقَرِينَand the companion مَعاًtogether سوَاءٌalike
فَإنَّكَ وَالقَرِينَ مَعاً سوَاءٌ
كَمَاjust as قُدَّwas cut الادِيمُthe hide علىto match الأدِيمthe hide
كَمَا قُدَّ الادِيمُ على الأدِيم
For you and your companion are both alike,
For you and your companion are alike,
as one hide is cut to match another.
just as hide is cut to match hide.
