لا تَطلُبَنَّ فَتاةً مِن وَسَامَتِهَأ

لا تَطلُبَنَّ فَتاةً مِن وَسَامَتِهَأ

مَا لَم يُوَافِقكَ مِنهَا الدِّينُ وَالخُلقُ

مَا لَم يُوَافِقكَ مِنهَا الدِّينُ وَالخُلقُ

Do not seek a maiden for her beauty,

Do not seek a maiden for her beauty alone,

unless her faith and character suit you.

Unless her religion and morals with yours are in tune.

وَالرِّفقُ يَجمَعُ أَهلَ البَيتِ ما اجتَمَعُوا

وَالرِّفقُ يَجمَعُ أَهلَ البَيتِ ما اجتَمَعُوا

وَقَد يَشُقُّ عَلَى أصحَابِهِ الخُرُق

وَقَد يَشُقُّ عَلَى أصحَابِهِ الخُرُق

And gentleness unites the household as long as they are together;

Gentleness brings together the people of a house,

and harshness may burden those who practice it.

However much they be scattered and hewn.
