وأن ألقَى من الخُصماء خَبلا
In this I seek refuge from you in your sound judgment,
And from suffering harm at my adversaries’ hands.
فإنso if حزَّcut الفَوارِىthe cleaving blades فيinto أديمىmy skin
فإن حزَّ الفَوارِى في أديمى
فلاthen no عيبٌdisgrace إذاwhen ماindeed السيفُthe sword فُلاَّis notched
فلا عيبٌ إذا ما السيفُ فُلاَّ
If cleaving blades have gashed my hide,
There is no disgrace when a sword is notched.
