We spent the night at al-Zawra tearing down what
the hearts had built of false hopes,
لماwhen لقيناwe met منfrom تُجاهِكyour direction عصبةًa band

when we met a band coming from your direction,
whose complaints made the pack animals' napes sweat.
إنّindeed امرأًa man سلكتْtraveled إليكtoward you ركابُهُhis riding camels
فجًّاa mountain pass لقدhas surely دلَّىlowered himself بحبلِon a rope غرورِof delusion
Indeed, a man whose riding camels have traveled toward you
through a mountain pass has surely lowered himself on a rope of delusion.
