ضيوفُ ابن فَضلانٍ سواءٌ نهارُهم

ضيوفُ ابن فَضلانٍ سواءٌ نهارُهم

وليلُهمُ صوما من الشّرب والأكلِ

For Ibn Fadlan’s guests, their day is the same

as their night: fasting from drink and food.

ويُلزمهم أن يَنكَحوه وعِرسَه

ويُلزمهم أن يَنكَحوه وعِرسَه

وصعبٌ على مَن شئتَ خَرجٌ بلا دَخلِ

وصعبٌ على مَن شئتَ خَرجٌ بلا دَخلِ

And he obliges them to have sex with him and his wife;

and for anyone you choose, outlay without income is hard.
