غلبَتْ عليه سحائب الأزُرِ
At the valley bend with its acacia trees, I have a moon;
With the slender, dark-skinned beloved I have a moon,
Clouds of garments have shrouded it.
Overcome by clouds of blue.

I sent forth my breaths, but the clouds did not disperse
I sent my sighs to dispel them, but to no avail -
From it, and my eye poured forth rain.
My eyes rain tears instead.
