قالوا ابن مالكَ قَرنانٌ فقلت لهم
كذبتُمُyou have lied وأثمِتمand you have sinned بلrather لهhe has ذَنَبُa tail
كذبتُمُ وأثمِتم بل له ذَنَبُ
They said, “Ibn Mālik is a cuckold,” so I said to them:
They said: "Son of Malik has horns!" I said to them:
“You have lied and sinned; rather, he has a tail.
"You have lied and sinned! Nay, he has a tail!"
لوif كانhe were يملِكhe possesses قرناa horn كانhe would ينطحhe butts عنin defense of
لو كان يملِك قرنا كان ينطح عن
شاةٍa ewe كلُّevery تيسٍhe-goat فوقَهاupon her يثبُleaps
شاةٍ كلُّ تيسٍ فوقَها يثبُ
If he had a horn, he would butt in defense of
If he had a horn he would gore every
a ewe that every he-goat leaps upon.”
