أفديكَI would ransom you بلrather قلّit is rare أنthat يفديكhe ransoms you ذوone with دنفٍwasting sickness
هلis there? فيin المذلّةabasement للمشتاقfor the yearning lover منany عارshame
I would ransom you—but a lovesick man can scarcely ransom you.
I sacrifice myself for you, no, say that one with a close soul sacrifices himself for you
Is there any shame in abasement for the yearning lover?
Is there shame for the longing one in humiliation?
بيin me منكbecause of you شوقٌlonging لوif أنthat الصخرthe rock يحملهbears it
تفطّرwould split open الصخرthe rock عنrevealing مستوقدa hearth النارthe fire
In me is a longing for you; if the rock were to bear it,
In me is a longing for you, if it was carried by rock
The rock would split open, revealing a hearth of fire.
The rock would shatter from the kindled fire
قدindeed دبّhas crept حبّكlove for you فيthrough الأعضاءthe limbs منof جسديmy body
دبيبthe creeping لفظىmy speech منfrom روحيmy soul وإضماريand my hidden thoughts
Love for you has crept through the limbs of my body,
Your love crept into the limbs of my body
As my speech creeps from my soul and my hidden thoughts.
Creeping of my words from my soul and intimation
ولاand never تنفّستI breathed إلاexcept that كنتyou were معwith نفسيmy breath
وكلand every جارحةlimb منfrom خاطريmy thought جاريflowing
And I never breathed without you being with my breath,
And I did not breathe except you were with my breath
And every limb flows from my thought.
And every organ of mine flows from my thoughts
