أَنتَ المُخاطَبُ أَيُّها الإِنسانُ

أَنتَ المُخاطَبُ أَيُّها الإِنسانُ

فَأَصِخ إِلَيَّ يَلُح لَكَ البُرهانُ

فَأَصِخ إِلَيَّ يَلُح لَكَ البُرهانُ

You are the one addressed, O human being.

You are the one addressed, O human

So listen closely to me, and the proof will become clear to you.

So listen to me, clear is the proof to you

أُودِعتَ ما لَو قُلتُهُ لَكَ قُلتَ لي

أُودِعتَ ما لَو قُلتُهُ لَكَ قُلتَ لي

هَذا لَعَمرُكَ كُلُّهُ هُذيانُ

هَذا لَعَمرُكَ كُلُّهُ هُذيانُ

You have been entrusted with something; were I to tell it to you, you would say to me:

I have given you what had I told you, you would have said to me

“This, by your life, is all nonsense.”

This is, by your life, nothing but raving delirium

فَاِنظُر بِعَقلِكَ مِن بَنانِكَ وَاِعتَبِر

فَاِنظُر بِعَقلِكَ مِن بَنانِكَ وَاِعتَبِر

إِتقانَ صَنعَتِهِ فَثَمَّ الشانُ

إِتقانَ صَنعَتِهِ فَثَمَّ الشانُ

So look with your mind, starting at your fingertips, and consider

So look with your mind, from your insides, and contemplate

The perfection of His handiwork—for there lies what matters.

The perfection of His creation, so sublime is His craftsmanship

لِلَّهِ أَكياسٌ جَفَوا أَوطانَهُم

لِلَّهِ أَكياسٌ جَفَوا أَوطانَهُم

فَالأَرضُ أَجمَعُها لَهُم أَوطانُ

فَالأَرضُ أَجمَعُها لَهُم أَوطانُ

God has discerning people who have forsaken their homelands;

God has servants whose homelands have dried out

So the whole earth is home to them.

So the whole earth is home to them

جالَت عُقولُهُم مَجالَ تَفَكُّرٍ

جالَت عُقولُهُم مَجالَ تَفَكُّرٍ

وَتَدَبُّرٍ فَبَدا لَها الكِتمانُ

وَتَدَبُّرٍ فَبَدا لَها الكِتمانُ

Their minds ranged through a realm of reflection

Their minds roamed in the expanse of thought

And contemplation, and what was hidden became clear to them.

And contemplation, so the concealment became evident to them

رَكِبَت بِحارَ الفَهمِ في فَلَكِ النُهى

رَكِبَت بِحارَ الفَهمِ في فَلَكِ النُهى

وَجَرى بِها الإِخلاصُ وَالإيمانُ

وَجَرى بِها الإِخلاصُ وَالإيمانُ

They sailed the seas of understanding in the vessel of reason,

They rode the sea of understanding in the orbit of restraint

And sincerity and faith bore them along.

And sincerity and faith flowed through them

فَرَسَت بِهِم لَمّا أَتَوا مَحبوبَهُم

فَرَسَت بِهِم لَمّا أَتَوا مَحبوبَهُم

مَرسىً لَهُم فيهِ غِنىً وَأَمانُ

مَرسىً لَهُم فيهِ غِنىً وَأَمانُ

So it anchored with them when they reached their Beloved,

So when they came to their Beloved

At a haven where they have abundance and safety.

He anchored them in Him, their sufficiency and safety
